The Joy Of Clif
After about fifteen years of seeing the advertisements in the pages of Outside, Triathlete, Inside Triathlon, Runner’s World and various other US magazines, and hearing person after person raving about them, I’ve finally - finally - had my first Clif bar.

And it was fantastic. I’m buying $100 worth of various flavours to take home with me.

Do you have LaraBars back home? They are pretty good, also and count as a serving of fruit. I like the apple pie flavor myself.
I’m saving my CLIF bars for when I hit over 1.5 hours of running … and actually know how far I’m going and how far away the house is!
The best part is, you can actually make them at home using all natural ingredients and spices.
Have a great day! Gotta run … again.

Personally I’m not a huge fan of the Clif bar brand. They don’t do it for me, not for the price they are at. Then again, I’m perfectly happy baking my own energy bars.

I discovered Clif bars last year at the start of my marathon trainging and love them. Love, love, love. Best of luck with your endeavors!

I keep hearing about them as well but have never had the opportunity. Baking your own sounds interesting.

I must admit I’ve never understood the ‘make your own’ philisophy with regard to energy bars (and drinks). Same goes for protein shakes when I was lifting. This would be especially true in the USA, where $1/bar seems so ludicrously cheap that I’m not sure I’d see much of a point doing it at home. You’ve got to remember I come from a country where pretty much all food is at least DOUBLE the price of the States. You can order Clif bars online, for example, for £15.48 for twelve - or about $30. I can get thirty for that here.
I know for a lot of people knowing exactly what is in the things they are eating is important, but you have to be able to trust some things in life.
For me, something like the Clif bar is ideal for these early morning runs. I don’t like running on a completely empty stomach so I can have one as soon as I get up (with some fluids, and maybe a banana), wait an hour or so and off I go. It’s easy to digest and isn’t going to come back to haunt me.
@ Spartan7 - Nope, never heard of Larabars. Sound good though! ![]()

Hey, I see the makings of a business deal here. I think I can hook you up with a regular shipment of bars, well, for cheaper than you can get them back home….
(Of course, the export/import taxes may make it a bit tougher.)
hehehe.
Personally, I like the clif bars. much better than others I’ve tried. I don’t like the larabars.
