Today is my fiftieth day of running in a row, and to celebrate this milestone I’ve decided to throw a little competition.

Would you like to win these prizes?

iRun365.com Competition - The Prizes

You would? Well, you can! :) I’ve been thinking about what I’m doing this past week or so and re-evaluating my goals and aspirations. It occurred to me that there’s real potential here to tie this in some way to a charity and raise money for folk who really need it. I realised it would be nice to do this when I reached my 100-day mark, as that’s a good number to take to a charity (and the media, etc) because it shows commitment. But to do that, I need to get more people to be aware of iRun365.com - more eyes on the prize, so to speak.

And what better way to do that than to give something back to my regular readers? :)

How Do You Enter?

To enter the competition, simply write a comment below to say you are playing. I’m going to be pretty strict on this - if you don’t announce your entry, you won’t be considered when it comes to the final tally. Don’t delay - sign up now!

How Long Will The Competition Last?

The competition starts today (July 21, 2008) and will end on August 20, 2008, at 2pm GMT (9am EST). All being well, this will coincide with day 80 of my challenge. :)

What Are The Prizes?

First Prize

Amazon Gift CardThe lucky winner will be the recipient of a $30 gift voucher from Amazon.com. With this, you can buy whatever you want, but of course you’ll be spending it on running books, right? ;) (Note: for non-USA winners, the first prize will be a gift voucher from your nearest Amazon online store, where possible. See the rules guide below for more details.)

Runner-Up Prize

50/50 - Dean Karnazes 50 Days Of Running - Time To Run A Competition! The runner-up will receive a copy of 50/50 – Secrets I Learned Running 50 Marathons in 50 Days 50 Days Of Running - Time To Run A Competition!, by Dean Karnazes. In the fall of 2006, Dean Karnazes took on the ultimate challenge: running 50 marathons in 50 states in 50 consecutive days. Dean set off in a caravan packed with fellow runners, with nothing more than a roadmap and a determination that defied all physical limitations. 50/50 goes beyond the incredible story of these 50 marathons. It is a firsthand, fascinating story of what it’s like to push the limits of strength.

How Do You Win?

To win this competition, you need to accumulate points. The person who tallies up the most points, wins!

Second prize will go the individual who I think has made the best comment or blog post on or about iRun365.com over the period of the competition.

How Do You Earn Points?

You can earn points in the following ways.

Write A Comment!

  • When you post a comment below to say you are entering the competition, you will earn one point.
  • As soon as you officially enter, every comment you make at iRun365.com will earn you one point.
  • Each day, the most constructive/helpful/funny/intelligent comment of the day will earn a five-point bonus!

Important Note: Your posts need to be genuine. Spam or blatantly useless comments will be ignored and possibly deleted. Stay on topic and all will be well. :)

Blog About This Competition!

  • If you write a blog post about this competition on your own blog, you will earn 20 points. To qualify, simple write a post of however many words you feel is necessary (or mention the competition at the end of another post), discussing this competition and what I’m doing on iRun365.com, and include a link back to www.irun365.com, or directly to this competition page. Bonuses will be awarded for particularly creative or traffic-lucrative posts!

Note: If you do this, make sure you post a link below to let me know, or send me an email. If I’m not aware of it, I can’t give out points for it! :)

Sign Up To Receive Updates Via Email!

Note: To match your subscription with your entry, please contact me to let me know your username on the forum (if it’s not 100 per cent obvious). :)

In short, the person who makes the most effort will win! Each day, I’ll be adding up all points on a spreadsheet. From time to time, I might post little tidbits about how things are going.

What Are The Rules?

Unfortunately, to ensure this competition runs fair and square, we need a few rules. Please read this before entering. Thanks!

  1. If you do not announce your entry in this post, you are not ‘in’ the competition.
  2. For a comment to score points, it must be posted with a valid email address.
  3. You can post comments under any username, but must always use the same one to qualify for points.
  4. Only genuine comments will qualify for points - spamming, redundant or essentially useless comments (i.e., one-word) will not score.
  5. Points will only be awarded during the timeframe of the competition. You cannot earn points for things you have done before and after this period.
  6. Blogs must be at least 30-days old to qualify for blogging points.
  7. The blog point bonus is awarded once per blog.
  8. The winning prize is a $30 voucher from Amazon.com. UK winners will receive a £15 gift certificate from Amazon.co.uk. For non-USA, non-UK winners, I will attempt, where possible, to supply a gift certificate to your nearest online Amazon retailer to an amount that is equal to $30 USA. Otherwise, the Amazon.com voucher will have to do! :)
  9. The runner-up prize is a copy of Dean Karnazes book, 50/50 – Secrets I Learned Running 50 Marathons in 50 Days 50 Days Of Running - Time To Run A Competition!. This will be dispatched from your nearest Amazon retailer (or an alternative, reliable retailer if more convenient or cost-effective). The maximum cost for this prize, with postage, cannot exceed $25.
  10. The winner of the runner-up prize is completely at my discretion.
  11. Prizes are non-negotiable.
  12. Any attempt to ‘cheat’ the competition will get you disqualified.

Best of luck to everybody. If you have any questions, please drop me an email.

Now what are you waiting for? Announce your entry below! :)

I’m in too.
And if I could think of something witty and on-topic, I’d add that too for the bonus.

Unfortunately, I can’t think of anything. Probably because I haven’t run since Friday…
Ah, there you ago–Advice: Running helps you think of witty things to say.

I feel like someone should be giving something back to you. You’ve been doing a great job on your blog. Consider me in.

I always get my times posted on different sites, but I always seem to forget to blog them myself.

Oh, I’m going to let everyone know that my oldest cat and you have the same name but he doesn’t fit in running shoes.

Ahhh Karnazes…I ran with him in 07 at the NYC marathon. Ok, didn’t actually run with him. More like ran a few hours behind him. I can dream though…

Sounds like an awesome goal you have! Count me in for your contest.

You’re in, FFB. :) A few of the running bloggers have ran with Dean at one time or another and all have said he seems to be a decent guy. That book should be a cracker!
